Leadership coaching
The highly interactive style of coaching was
designed to identify and confront areas of uncertainty and build on
principles that delivered the confidence to realise solutions.
Over a programme of 10 one to one coaching
sessions, each lasting up to two hours, a progressive dialogue was built
with Nick Marson that referred to sound leadership principles (e.g. the
versatile leadership model) but related to real workplace situations.
The principles were supplemented by a diverse yet valuable reading list
and the workplace situations were real time as evidenced by a reflective
diary kept on my part.
The style of conversation was challenging, serious
and directly confronted the issues that were identified as impeding the
leadership potential that I personally felt had hitherto eluded me.
Nick Marson’s skill in taking the dialogue to the exact point of
conflict between my present and potential future leadership style showed
acute awareness and sensitivity of my personal work environment which
helped to deliver real solutions measured by results in the real
workplace.
The positive results have been recognised at Board
level in terms of confidence and ability to take ideas, proposals and
people forward successfully using techniques that maintain my
authenticity yet at the same time underscore effective use of
authority.
I would recommend the Parallel Mind approach to
anyone interested in developing their leadership potential. Nick Marson
in particular has the rare ability of forcing you to confront your fears
through logical analysis supplemented by really useful techniques.
Moreover he becomes a trusted adviser and a good friend.
